Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONCERN.

As per your query you have symptoms of swelling, pain and burning sensation in tongue which is mainly because of underlying medical problems such as lupus, RA and reaction of medications which you are taking for that. Discoid type of lesions are common in this.

I would suggest you to visit dentist and get scrapping's from tongue to get it biopsied. Biopsy is the only way to reliably determine the true nature of oral lesions and to examine them under a microscope.

These swellings can be treated with topical or intralesional steroids such as cortisone. Antimalarial drugs—Hydroxychloroquine or Quinacrine are also very effective. Immunosuppressive drugs such as Azathioprine, Methotrexate are very effective to boost immune system of body.

Maintain basic hygiene of oral cavity by brushing and flossing daily. Use tongue scrapper very gently to remove bacterial debris attached to tongue.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
