What Causes Swelling In The Tongue?

I believe the adderal I started taking this week is causing my tongue to swell. I put 2 and 2 together last night so only took 10mg this morning and I am going to stop but wanted to know if diphenhydramine can help reduce the swelling or what can. I have no other symptoms

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well, Adderrall contains active ingredient Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine..

Swelling of tongue can be a side effect of the drug combination and needs to be evaluated..

You should consult your treating Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation should be done..
If needed the dose of the drug should be titrated or can be changed..

It needs to be taken care of as excessive swelling of tongue can cause problems in breathing and swallowing..

If the swelling starts interfering with swallowing and breathing, immediately consult an Emergency room so that the allergic reaction can be controlled to avoid any emergency..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
