What Causes Swelling In The Upper Thighs While Suffering From Fibromyalgia?
I have fibromyalgia and now have swelling above patellar bakers cyst behind knee upper thigh swelling am tapering steroids from original dose after 5 years and have parasethias body wide muscle pain/aches wheezing mono arthritis in knee neck pain shoulder pain bloated stomach diarohea am due to see rheum as muscle pain more widespread and swellings that sting
First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, before getting the appointment of Rheumatologist few supportive measures can be done for symptomatic relief.
Using OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can help with the symptoms. Due to stomach issues if NSAIDS like ibuprofen or neproxen is unavoidable for pain and swelling, an antacid like omperazole before meals may also be needed. Warm compresses on the joint can be helpful.
After Rheumatologist review, extensive workup including MRI of knees to see an extension of baker's cyst and other soft tissue deformities may be needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
