General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
hi, Thanks for asking. I understand your concern. The thickening of vaginal wall without vaginal or urinary infection.... seems to be due to- - friction caused by sanitary towel irritated delicate inner lining of vagina... which got swollen/ painful., probably accompanied by carelessness in changing the towel/.spontaneous itching may cause it the same way. - A previous asymptomatic infection might have flourished in menstrual blood & cause the symptom. * if it dies not disappear in 2-3 days with local care, pain pills otc/ or it recures again- you need consultation of a gynecologist . It can be beginning of swelling in Bartholin gland that lies embedded in side wall of vagina.... which may subside with treatment or may form an abscess, so better to note it early. Thanks
