Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In Throat With Stiffness In Neck?
I woke up with a swollen throat, and stiff neck. It didnt feel like a sore throat, just swollen and hard to talk or swallow. I worked out two days before and did a very heavy set of squats.. not sure if that would have something to do with it. I am 27 year old female.
Hi Thanks for choosing HCM for your query. The features described in your query are suggestive of Acute inflammation of tonsils with enlargement of lymph glands in the neck responsible for difficulty in talking or swallowing and stiff neck. Kindly get examined by a doctor (ENT surgeon if possible) for a possible course of appropriate antibiotic like Augmentin 625 and NSAID pain killers. Meanwhile do frequent saline water gargles, and start taking NSAID along with a PPI drug.
Best regards
