What Causes Swelling, Inflammation And Severe Pain In The Scrotum?

My husband is complaining of severe pain in his scrotum without any memorable trauma (maybe kids kicked him while sleeping?). It s been all day he says and it is not responsive to Aleve or icing. I looked and it appears swollen and inflamed. He is unable to walk properly. Is this worth an ER visit or can he wait until morning to see his PCP?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. There is a high possibility that your husband has torsion of testes. This is an emergency condition requires immediate visit to Surgeon and get treated may be a minor surgery. If left untreated it may occlude blood supply to testes and permanent damage which may require removal of testes. Hence kindly visit surgeon at the earliest. Another mild possibility is just an infection that is epididymoorchitis. It can be cured with antibiotics. But the former condition requires immediate attention. Hence please go to the doctor as soon as possible. All the best
