Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling Of Calves And Red Blotchy Spots On Ankles?
This problem only seems to occur after being on my feet walking for a long period of time (full day). My exposed calve/ankle are swells a bit and has red blotchy spots which stay for 2 to 3 days after. I am at a loss of what is causing this other than possible heat rash?
It is possible that you have varicose veins. Do you see dilated, twisting veins on your legs as well? Do you stand long hours at your job? It is a fairly common condition and is not a cause for concern. You can undergo an ultrasound of your legs to understand it better. As long as it is not paining, there are no ulcers, you don't need to do anything about it at this time.
However, without being able to examine or talk to you, I have some follow up questions: -- Do you experience any difficulty breathing or Chest pain? -- Is there any pain in your legs? -- Do you have difficulty breathing when you lie down flat?
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
