What Causes Swelling Of Labia And Itching After Unsafe Sex?

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to be allergic to seminal fluid? My husband and I have been married for close to 2 years, and I seem to have a mild reaction after sex if we don't use condoms. I currently have no allergies, be it food or environmental, so I can't think of anything else that would cause these symptoms. After sex, if we don't use a condom, my labia start to swell and there is a slight stinging/itching sensation. It goes away after about 4-5 hours, but it's very uncomfortable. I just wanted to know if this was a common issue, or if it was something I needed to get checked.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Firstly, you should do a vaginal swab to exclude any transmitted infection.

If the vaginal swab is negative, then you should contact your gynecologist to determine the reason of swelling and itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vjollce Mbiarra
