What Causes Swelling Of Posterior Auricular Vein Behind The Ears?
Hi, I recently noticed a very slight sensation behind my left ear. I felt it and noticed a slight bump that wasn't on the right side. I quickly realized that the bump was a vein! After looking at pictures, it appears to be the posterior auricular vein. It hasn't exactly caused pain and the very slight discomfort may be from my continued pressing on it and/or feeling it, but suddenly, within the past two weeks, I have become aware of it. Are there common issues/dangers related to the swelling of this vein? I will also mention that I work out alot, I smoke (I know, I know...) and I drink alcohol (2-3 drinks a day). Any thoughts?
Prominence of posterior auricular vein is not related to alcohol or smoking in any way.Sometimes there is localised varicosity, the cause of which is unknown.Don't fiddle with it.Forget it.
