What Causes Swelling Of The Face After Having A Dental Filling?
I had a filling that was causing me some pain..went to the dentist and he said there was very little decay after removing the old one. He put a temporary filling in and it's been sore. After day 10, now my face is swollen on that side, not much pain... I didn't know I had to continue to take my entire amoxicillin prescription so, I started taking it this morning. How do I get the swelling down?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that swelling on face after dental filling which also had a secondary decay is pointing towards deep decay that is leading to nerve exposure and even if there is swelling on the face the infection might have reached below the Root tips of tooth leading to inflammation and abscess formation..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and an x ray has to be done for confirming the diagnosis.. In case of nerve exposure you can be advised Root Canal treatment followed by antibiotics and painkillers and capping of tooth after 15 days..
Doing permanent filling without proper treatment will not be helpful rather can cause severe pain and swelling..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
