Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I suddenly developed swollen joints in my hands about a month ago. No trauma, no change in diet, climate, etc. My grip is weaker and I can t get rings on/off. I am assuming it is inflammation and trying to reduce with NSAIDs but they don t seem to help much. I walk 3 miles 5-6 days a week and swim 3/4 mile 3 x week. Not sure what other treatment there is. Under what conditions would I be wise to see my GP?
I think you should discuss with your GP about rheumatological health problems.
You need to run a few blood tests including rheumatoid factor, CRP, antistreptolysin levels, fibrinogen level, ERS, complete blood count, and so on depending on the results of physical examination. Rheumatologist to consult further.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
