What Causes Swelling Of The Lips And Eyelids?

I have sudden swelling of the lips and eyelids. I have no known allergies of any kind. Its very hot here in NH and I am sensative to heat. I took an allergy pill just in case. Any ideas? No itching, no pain, just strange and sudden (less than an hour ago) swelling of my lips and eyelids.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms the swelling of lips and eyelids seems to be more commonly due to allergic reaction to either any food or medication and the condition seems to be similar to Allergic Angioedema of lips and eyelids.
Heat or surface allergens can also be a cause..

Nothing to worry, consult an Allergist and get evaluated and in case of allergic reaction anti-allergic medications like Cetrizine or fexofenadine
[allegra] can be advised.
Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can be taken.
Cold compresses over the lips and also over the eyelids can help..
Avoid licking, biting or sucking the lips.
While going into sun always apply a SPF 15 containing lip balm..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
