Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, the bridge of my nose is swollen and sensitive to the touch - almost as if I had walked into a shelf - so it's isolated to the upper area of the nose, not the tip. I also have a runny nose with clear mucus. And the inside burns similarly to a sinus infection I had several years ago. But there isn't pain or an ache in my cheeks or forehead. Could this be a sinus infection - just on the top of my nose vs the cheeks? Thank you
As per your complain swelling and pain over bridge of nose can be due to Sinusitis, traumatic injury to nose etc.. In case if you do not have pain in cheeks or face there is a possibility that you have a flaring up of infection in Ethmoidal sinuses and not in maxillary sinuses.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you PNS view of sinuses to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treat you accordingly.. As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Advil or Aleve, do cool compresses over the nose and do stem inhalations..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
