Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain the swelling in the region between ear and jaw can be mainly due to two important structures which are:
1.
Parotid gland which is one of the major
salivary gland and any clogged duct of the gland or infection can lead to pain and swelling but as you have swelling below the jaw over neck it shows that you have infection in the gland..
2.Wisdom tooth originating inflammation in case if you have erupting wisdom tooth then gum flap over it may get inflamed due to infection or trauma by opposite jaw tooth leading to pain and swelling in the area that you described..
The swelling of lymph nodes below jaw is also seen in this case..
These are the two most probable causes of pain and swelling in this region of face, but a final diagnosis can be made by an Oral Physician only after examining you clinically and if an MRI scan required in case of Parotid Gland disorder is suspected..
As of now to relieve pain you can take OTC anti-inflammatory painkiller like
Ibuprofen ( Advil or
Motrin) while in case of
severe pain Ultram (
Tramadol) can be taken..
Hope this information helps..
