What Causes Swelling On Knuckles?

My knuckles have been really swollen and today i noticed refness as well assmall cuts on a dew of my fingers on my right hand (looks like cracked or skin is split at knuckle.) any idea ehat thiscoukd be caused by. I dont really go outside too much snd im 35
