What Causes Swelling On Lips And Tongue While On Treatment For Scabies?

I spent the weekend in a motel. After coming home I began to itch and have little bites on me. After going to the doctor today she said I had scabies. She gave some cream to put on after I shower and leave it on for 8 to 12 hours and then shower it off. Also have washed my bedding in hot water. After reading up on it online I am concerned whether I am doing everything. I also have some swelling on my lips and tongue. I have called the motel and left a message for them to call me back but have not heard back. What do I do? Could I given this to friends and do I need to call some one to get this out of my house?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling on lips and tongue while on treatment for scabies which seems to be due to allergic reaction to mites and their feces. This is highly contagious.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply benzyl benzoate lotion in 25% quantity and apply cold compresses to lips and tongue. Avoid hot water bath and you should decontaminate your clothing, and towels by boiling in hot water. Visit dermatologist once and get complete examination done and take proper course of antibiotics. Avoid repeated touching or pricking of lips.
