What Causes Swelling On Nape, Numbness In Hands With Elevated Prolactin Levels?
yes, symptoms include swelling at the back of my neck where it meets my spine. (several months now) Also, numbness in my hands when I am still or sleeping. I do have elevated Prolactin but they did a CTscan 6 mos ago to rule out Pituitary tumor. I have very tender breasts and have gained some weight recently. By the way I am a 54 year old female in otherwise very good health. any ideas what could be going on? I realize these may not all be related symptoms. I do have a Dr appointment next week.
Since you are 54 years of age, you are in your menopausal phase. It is good to know that inspite of the high prolactin level your CT report shows no pituitary tumor.
During menopausal phase you have a tendency to gain weight but do regular walking & stretch exercises to maintain a low BMI.
Swelling at the back of the neck is due to water retention or obesity. Limit the intake of salts.
Visit a gyne, get physically examined. You may need HRT. Breast tenderness is due to increases prolactin levels, do not worry it can be treated with medicines.
