What Causes Swelling On One Side Of The Face To The Bottom Of The Neck?
Hi, I came back from Jamaica a couple of weeks ago and I came down with very bad cold symptoms that have lasted a week so far. Now today I noticed one side of my face is swelling. Swelling from in front of the ear to the bottom of my neck on one side.
Most seemingly diagnosis is salivary gland swelling with parotid gland inflammation as parotitis from viral infection of the gland. Kindly consult your GP for further guidance in this regard, till that time be careful to: - Maintain hydration with plenty of liquids - Avoid exposure to cold - Avoid consumption of beverages and cold drinks - Prefer warm soup and other liquids - Avoid stuffs needing to chew much for eating - Prescription of antibiotics and supportive anti inflammatory medicines from doctor - Avoid smoking (if applicable)
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
