My 7 yr old son plays soccer and rolled his ankle about 2 weeks ago. He has been hobbling for a while and I ve just noticed his ankle bone is much bigger than the other, like an egg?! HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Severe direct trauma to the ankle would be needed for a fracture to occur. If this occurred (Eg he was struck on the ankle, then this is likely).

It is more likely that there is soft tissue injury but the only way to definitely distinguish between the two would be an x ray of the ankle.
This would be a good idea.

In addition he would need to : (1)rest it as much as possible
(2)can apply a warm compress 2 to 3 times daily
(3)a bandage and elevation would help with any swelling
(4)medications such children's advil or cataflam

If the x ray shows that it is fractured then additional treatment would be needed.

I hope this helps
