What Causes Swelling On The Face Ad Feet While On Amlodipine?
I am 55+ I have been taking Amlodipine 5 mg (2 times) + losar 50 only in the morning since 4-years. My BP use to be perfect with 120/80. But recently my face and left feet was getting swollen daily. I stopped Amlodipine 5 mg and started (2-times) losar + Metapro XL 50 (one time in the morning) on doctor s advice. But my BP is not like those days when I was taking Amlodipine. I get headache even with slight increase in my BP like 140/83. Kindly advice me whether I should continue with this or consult any other doctor.
Hello, i just read your query and i suggest your have your blood tested for total lipids, liver function test, renal function tests and serum electrolytes as quite likely that a derangement of any of these tests could be the cause for your headaches. In the meanwhile i suggest a cut down on your salt intake, have a low fat diet and have a moderate intensity walk daily to lower your blood pressure naturally. It sometimes happens that when we change to a new drug for blood pressure it causes some discomfort while the body tries to adjust to this new drug. Wait for a week or so and if this problem doesn't resolve in a week or so get yourself reassessed by a physician close to you. Hope this helps.
