Thanks for contacting with your health concern
1. After going through your case history, I'm of the opinion that you need a Consultation from a Medicine specialist or Cardiologist [some blood pressure medications do cause swelling of the feet] to exclude certain pathogenesis causing swelling on the feet and weight gain, like
i.
high blood pressure eventually causes heart damage called as HHD [hypertensive heart disease] which later progress to heart failure [as the name implies heart is unable to maintain its function and thus retains excess fluids in the body causing swelling of the feet, weight gain.
ii. Exclude associated risk factors of high blood pressure like underactive thyroid [
hypothyroidism, which can cause weight gain too], and lipid profile.
iii. Newer studies have suggested that RAS [renin angiotensin system] that regulates blood pressure, may also promote weight gain. [a blood aldosterone and renin test are usually ordered].
PS. As hypertension is the most common cause of
cardiac asthma thus they might well have to exclude conditions like cor- pulmonale and any lung dysfunction.
2. As you are following the diet regime and still symptoms are increasing, thus your Doctor will be the best source of information for concerns related to your medical problem.
PS. As swelling of feet is more prominent thus make sure to exclude causes like:
- Congestive cardiac failure
- Nutritional edema [
protein losing enteropathy, hypoalbuminemia].
- cirrhosis of the liver.
-
Varicose veins,
venous thrombosis.
- chronic lymphatic obstruction.
-
nephrotic syndrome.
- drug induced [nifedipine/amlodipine, steroids]
