Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up with the floor of my mouth swollen. I am 38 years old, I have no dental issues that I know of. Can someone please explain why this may happen. I am on high blood pressures medicines as well as Anxiety Meds. I have tried to find the answer on Google I am having no luck.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swelling under floor of mouth can be due to causes like swelling in Submental salivary gland if it is in the centre portion of floor of mouth or submandibular Salivary Gland if it is along the sides.. It can be due to obstruction in the duct of the gland by formation of stones or can also be due to infection in the gland.. Other cause can be allergic reaction or traumatic injury under the tongue.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and even an x Ray can be advised in case if it is suspected to be due to Salivary Gland..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
