What Causes Swelling On The Side Of The Penile Shaft After Intercourse?

After having intercourse with my wife I felt a small bump on the right side of my penile shaft and the next morning it was swollen and very sensitive. The following day the swelling went down a little but it was still noticeable. We had inter course again that night and now the swelling is twice as bad going all the way around the penis. And it is sensitive again. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Having frequent sex and doing it vigorously can make your penis sore and swell.

A prolonged erection can strain and sometimes injure the muscles and tissues.

Blood can also pool in the corpus cavernosa and corpus spongiosum after a prolonged erection.

Suddenly thrusting your penis into your partner’s body at high speeds can also injure the tissue.

The things become worse when your partner is not properly lubricated.

For the time being, refrain from sexual activity, take NSAID like Advil for reducing pain and swelling and maintain hygiene.

If things do not improve, please see your clinician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
