Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am currently on Taxol once a week for stage 3 breast cancer. I am having side efforts of neuropathy. However in reading about this condition I haven t seen anything about skin turning red or peeling. My toes are swollen - the big toes are red on the side and peeling on both sides of the big toes. Are these two signs of neuropathy as well?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
It may be sign of neuropahy of course or also may be sign of side effect of Taxol however other disorders should be ruled out as well and in first case,by this, I mean gout, rheumatoid arhritis or diabetic foot syndrome. SO it would be good to do blood sugar and foot xrays. Neuropathies may present with swelling but more often there is just numbness and pain present so this is not likely diagnosis. In every case, till you do tests, you should take Ketorolac 100mg 2x daily, apply cold compresses and have comfortable shoes. Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
