Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend woke up 4 nights ago with her tongue swollen. Then two days ago her upper lip swelled to 3 times its normal size. Both of the episodes occurred while she was at home and the swelling started on the right side of her tongue and her lip and spread to the entire thing. Today the inside of the ride side of her mouth began to swell and it's continuing to do so. What could cause this. She's eliminated changes in diet, deodorant, shampoo, detergent, etc,........
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms seems to be most probably due to Allergic reaction and can be commonly due to any food or medication.. It can also be due to an allergic reaction to any surface allergen like any lip cosmetics etc but chances of food related allergies are more.. I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray will help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now take anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Allegra.. Do not delay and consult an Emergency Room immediately as excessive swelling can cause difficulty in breathing and swallowing..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
