Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband started off with pains in his middle toes on one foot. The top of the foot is now swollen but not red or inflamed looking. The big toe has not been affected so we are not sure if this could be gout. If not, what else could have caused swelling on the top of the foot. Seems to be puffiness under the 3 middle toes. The sole of the foot is not affected.
Hello dear, Following are the causes of swelling, tenderness and pain in toes: 1. Injury 2. Infection 3. Blister, callus, corns 4. Gout 5. Very rare: Osteoarthritis
In your case most common cause is injury/infection, and may be gout. So take following medicine first: 1. Tablet naproxen 500 mg BD for Three days 2. Tablet rantac 40 mg BD for three days 3. Tablet zifi 400 mg BD for three days. 4. Take rest
If not resolved Consult with doctor and do following test: 1. CBC to rule out infection 2. serum Uric acid to rule out gout 3. XRAY of foot to rue out injury
Hope this may help you Wish you good health Best regards Dr. Sagar
