Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling, Sore And Painful Injection Site Post Pneumonia Shot?
I got my pneumonia shot last year and had to go to the hospital for problems related to the shot the following day. It has been 7 months and now the injection site is beginning to become swollen, sore and painful to move my shoulder. Is this something that happens with a pneumonia shot? I ve never had an allergic reaction to medicines except some in the Benzo family
This indicates an infection there. Allergic reaction will not persist this long. New onset swelling and soreness there indicates infection and might need antibiotic therapy. Try taking analgesic like Ibuprofen 2-3 times daily after food for 3 days. If not getting down by then or if fever comes, kindly see your doctor for antibiotic treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
