Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling Under Arm Along With Shoulder Pain And Chest Tightness?
I am 13 weeks pregnant. I have the following discomforts for more than 6 months even before pregnancy.1. A small swell in left under arm and checked couple of doctors and said it is fatty tissue. It was there for more than 6 months. Now I started feeling pain around the shoulder area and extends to the elbow and wrist.2. Feeling uncomfortable in upper left abdomen, pulling like feel, pain extends to back as well. Feeling tightness of chest, heaviness on the left breast. All these pain are bearable but disturbing.3. Frequent burping.I am not sure all the above are related.
The swelling seems to be benign like a lipoma (fatty tissue). However when it grows in size, it can compress on a nerve and cause pain. Therefore, it is advisable to consult a general surgeon for further investigation like a ultrasound or a an MRI. Your surgeon will guide you if it is advisable to be removed (a small minor procedure) as it is causing pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Riyanka Chail, General & Family Physician
