What Causes Swelling Under Arm With The History Of Breast Cancer?

i have a swelling under my arm. 20 years ago i had breast cancer and it got into my lymph nodes. This could be the return of the cancer but it also might be swelling from edema or something else. I don t need you to tell me to go see a doctor but what i do want is a list of all the things that might be causing swelling in this situation. i might add that there have always been lumps (which one doctor said was scarring) that got smaller and larger but the swelling is so large that my arm gets numb to the elbow. Would really appreciate that list - thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
if the operation for breast cancer was done and if the lymph nodes were removed on that time,,,,than swelling due to edema was the post surgical complication. the other reasons were spread of tumors from the previous sites and it may involve other nodes or blood vessels. the mamography /MRI/CT scan should be done on advice of oncosurgon,,,
