What Causes Swollen And Congested Ears?

Hi i was scratching my left ear last night...I woke up with my ear clogged and somehow it feels swollen...I usually put olive oil in my ear but not warm. my ENT dr said there was a was build up of wax aswell as a piece of skin growing in my ear which is trapping the wax. What can I do

Hi,

The skin tag might be an Otic Polyp and needs proper treatment. So my suggestion is to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated.

It looks like either the ear canal is injured or there is an infection in the ear leading to swelling and clogged feeling.

For now put Otrivin nasal drops and steam inhalations. Use antibiotic ear drops.

Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Advil. Also, avoid picking the ear with earbuds and also avoid excessive water exposure to ears.

Do not try to pop the ears by closing nostrils as it can damage the eardrum.
