What Causes Swollen And Painful Throat Along With White Bumps On Tongue?
About a week ago I went to the emergency room because my throat was so swollen and in so much pain and my tongue was so swollen it has now been a week and my throat still is very swollen and hurts but now I have these white bumps all over my tongue and my tongue is still swollen but it does not hurt help me
As per your query swelling in throat can be due infection that can be bacterial or viral in nature while the swelling and bumps over tongue seems to be due to apthous stomatitis that can occur secondary to infection..
You should take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin or Levofloxacin, take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles, gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.. Do steam inhalations and use a cool mist humidifier in your room. Take multivitamin supplements and a soft bland diet.. For mouth ulcers gargles with 1:1 solution of benadryl and milk of magnesia will help.. Avoid spicy and hard foods.. Drink plenty of water and maintain a good oral hygiene..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
