What Causes Swollen Ankles And Inflammation In Lymph Nodes While Treating Shingles?

I was diagnosed with shingles a week and half back. I took all of the medicine prescribed to me. My inflammation went down on my head and lymph nodes, but I can still tell they are not back to normal. My ankles have been swelling up to worse than when I was pregnant full term. I just worlnder if I should be concerned or wait and see if I stet seeing some improvements in a couple more days. I was sitting a majority of the day today.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Swollen ankles is not a sign of shingles. It is important to have a check with your doctor to find out which is the cause in your case. Sometimes oral antivirals (acyclovir) may cause kidney problems and it is important to make sure your kidneys are functioning properly. Blood tests such as urea, creatinine and electrolytes are needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
