What Causes Swollen Blisters And Discoloration On Left Ear While Having Lupus?

My brother s left ear gets swollen, redish blue, and the outside top blisters then flakes off. It gets very itchy at times and usually occurs in the fall/winter months. Maybe twice a year. He s been tested for lupus and auto immune deficiency. Thoughts?

Hello,

Is he taking any immuno-suppressive drugs? Possible causes are:
1. Ramsay hunt syndrome
2. Bullous phemphizoid
3. Condritis
4. Otitis externa
5. Eczema etc.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Use dermadew aloe cream for local application. Please consult with your dermatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
