What Causes Swollen Face, Sore Tongue And Breathing Difficulty Post Intake Of Truvada?
I started PEP with raltagravir 400 mg and Truvada yesterday. Today my face is swollen, burns, sore on tongue and breathing is challenging Understanding list if side effect, could this be allergic reaction or just the up halogens of PEP ? Can this be fatal? Require emergency room visit?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain you seems to be getting Post Exposure Prophylaxis and the symptoms of swollen and irritated face with swollen tongue and breathlessness seems to be due to side effect of the medication that is being given to you for prophylaxis.. I would suggest you to consult you treating Physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation has to be done.. Dose reduction or change in medication can be done for resolution.. You can also be advised supportive treatment to relieve the symptoms like anti histamines like Levocetrizine or benadryl.. Do cool compresses over the face.. You should do numbing mouthwash gargles containing Lignocaine to relieve pain in mouth sores.. Suck ice pops and do warm saline gargles..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
