What Causes Swollen Feet Along With Tingling And Burning Sensation?

HELLO...MY NAME IS BRENDA...AND IM DEAF...I GOT A PROBLEM WITH SWOLLEN FEET THAT STARTED NEARLY 2 WEEKS AGO. I CAN.T GET MY SON TO TAKE ME TO A DR. TO LOOK AT THEM, THEY JUST SWELL UP IF I GET ON MY FEET FOR MORE THAN A FEW HOURS...THEN THEY BEGIN TO TINGLE AND BURN. NO AMOUNT OF SOAKING THEM OR ELEVATING THEM WILL MAKE IT GO AWAY, AND I WORRY IT MIGHT BE SERIOUS...NOW IM THINKING IT MAY BE EDEMA. IS THERE A CURE?

Hello,

It certainly does sound as though you have what is called peripheral edema or sometimes dependent edema. This certainly is a cure but the more important issue that concerns me is why have you suddenly developed lower leg edema in such a short time. Many things can cause this to occur from thyroid disorders to kidney or heart issues. As the lower legs continue to swell. This tends to distend the blood vessels in those limbs and subsequently affects the nerves which is why you have the tingling and burning.

I would highly recommend that you see a physician about that as soon as you can, I realize that is a complicated issue for you. For right now I would definitely attempt to limit your salt intake dramatically less than 1 g of salt per day would be ideal. In addition continue to keep your legs elevated and if you can purchase some compression stockings or compression hose to help put extra pressure on your lower legs that will also help reduce the edema. I am sorry I can’t be more helpful on that subject, I do feel this needs to be looked at as soon as you can.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
