What Causes Swollen Feet And Legs Post Ventral And Umbilical Hernia Surgery?
Hi, I had ventral and umbilical hernia surgery almost two month ago and for the past month my feet and legs have been swealing. And I have been active I am back at work and everything. They don t hurt but they can barely fit in my shoes. Can this be from the surgery?
Rarely lymphatic flow abnormalities may occur but you should get those examined and if swelling or edema is putting, urinalysis for proteinuria and renal and liver function tests should be evaluated. Also, cardiac work up with a baseline echocardiogram should be done. Meanwhile, while lying, pillow under the legs may be helpful along with salt restriction.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
