What Causes Swollen Glands, Difficulty In Swallowing And Excessive Coughing?

6 days swollen glands, difficulty swallowing, excessive amount of coughing when trying to talk, no fever. I have been gargling with salt water. Glands don t appear to be swollen anymore, but still difficult with swallowing - no solid foods in last 4 days - too difficult. Extremely tired, body feels worn down.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a tonsillitis.

I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

I recommend to gargle with salty water and drink liquids.

If the symptoms continue, I suggest to take antibiotics to treat the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
