What Causes Swollen Glands In Neck And Sore Throat Inspite Of Taking Paracetamol?

I woke up this morning with swollen glands and a very dry sore throat.I am taking paracetamol and drinking lots of water, yet when I drink water my throat feels like it's tightening up?This has bebe happens to me before. I have never had my tonsils out.Rarely ever get a cold either. So I'm bit concerned why my throat is tightening.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms sore throat [Pharyngitis] and swollen glands [Tonsillitis] along with tightening in throat are signs of throat infection and you need not to worry about it..
It can be bacterial or viral in nature while at times it can be viral infection with a secondary bacterial infection.
Nothing to worry as there is nothing very serious and you will get relieved soon.
You can take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin [amoxicillin + clavulanic acid] or Azithromycin for 5 days.
Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen for relieving soreness in throat and inflammation.
Chew a vitamin C pellet daily.
Do warm saline gargles.
Avoid spicy and hard food and take a soft diet.
Steam inhalations and using a humidifier in your room can help in soothing throat and reducing dryness..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
