What Causes Swollen Glands On Back Of Neck While On Metformin?
Hi. I have several swollen glands on the back of my neck and on the sides. They are very tender but don t hurt. I take naturoid thyroid 81.25mg for 6 months now. I am on metaformin 500mg twice daily forjust three weeks now. I have allergies that can t get severe but I don t feel sick other than my normal stuffy nose. This swollen glands seem extreme. Could it be the Metaformin.
Metformin is not known to cause enlargement of the lymph nodes, the most common reactions are related to the gastrointestinal tract eg nausea, bloating, diarrhea or constipation
The enlarged nodes are more likely related to the allergies that were mentioned. Since they are painful, the use of anti inflammatory pain killers may help eg ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam
If it continues then you should see your doctor for assessment. A complete blood count may be needed.
I hope this helps
