What Causes Swollen Glands Under Ear/jaw And Throat?

I was sick about a month ago for two weeks - typical cold, sore throat, sinus infection. That passed, but I ve had persistent swollen glands the last two weeks in my neck and under the ear/jaw. The last few days, the glands in the back of my throat have swollen, too, and I have pain in my upper back, with pressure in my shoulders and even the elbows. I have VERY low-grade fever - less than a degree above where I usually am. I am due for surgery in less than a week, and my doc won t see me until Friday. i m worried this might be recurring Mono, or something else that could interfere with surgery, but no one seems to want to rush me in.

Hi,

You must do complete blood count, ESR, CRP, neck ultrasound and a Mantoux test if you have any contact with tuberculosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arun S. Dathan, ENT Specialist
