What Causes Swollen Gums And Lymph Nodes In Cheeks While Treating Tonsillitis?
I was diagnosed with tonsillitis two days ago and just a few hours ago I noticed my gums started swelling as well as a lymph node swollen in my cheek. I was prescribed amoxicillin and was wondering if I should be taking extra measures for the swollen gums?
As per your complain swelling of gums and swollen lymph nodes during a bout of Tonsillitis seems to be most probably due to infection in Tonsils leading to inflammation of gums and lymph nodes leading to swelling..
I would suggest you to continue taking antibiotic Amoxicillin and also along with it take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.. You can also start doing warm saline gargle.. If there is pain in gums you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine.. Suck throat lozenges and chew a Vitamin C pellet daily.. Avoid spicy foods.. Do alternate warm and cool compresses over lymph nodes.
Hope this helps..
Regards..
