What Causes Swollen Gums In A Child?

39 month old son has a white, swollen gum on lower right side of mouth, he has screamed and talked about pain for two days now. Wont eat, made hold and walk him for hours, finally fell asleep which is out of the ordinary for him. We thought he was just teething? It seems its not normal to cut molars at this age? What should I do? Teething? Infection? Just dont know.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swollen gum at the age of 39 months can be very much due to erupting deciduous molar, however if it is under any tooth it can be dye to ABSCESS formation..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray will help in diagnosis and treatment will be done accordingly..

As of now you can give him Acetaminophen to relieve pain..
Give him a soft diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
