What Causes Swollen Inflammation On The Face?

My disabled daughter aged 45 years has swelling on the left side of her face. It is quite inflamed . She has suffered from sinus problems and allergies at this time of year, It is making her eye and nose sore too. She has not been able to go to the dentist for 4 years as she is housebound. Iit seems a lot worse this evening.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swelling of the face on the left side along with inflamed appearance and having a history of sinusitis and allergies can be due to the reactivation of the infection into the sinus or can be due to allergies while can also be due to dental related causes like deep tooth infection leading to dental abscess formation..
It can also be due to inflamed gum flap over wisdom tooth if she has a partially erupted wisdom tooth..

It needs a proper evaluation and investigations like PNS view x ray of sinuses, dental x rays if she has an infected tooth etc..

Once the diagnosis is confirmed, treatment can done accordingly..

As of now you can give her Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and pain and do cool compresses over the cheeks to reduce inflammation and swelling..
