General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

1. The blood clot in the upper part of your calf we call it deep vein thrombosis on the legs. This is commonly occurring in patients who have predisposition to blood clotting.

2. Warfarin will help thinning your blood, thus, hoping to dissolve the clotting.

3. The pain you are feeling is due to the bad circulation caused by clogged blood vessel.

4. You can wait until tomorrow appointment with your doctor. Meanwhile I advise to:
- raise your legs even when sleeping
- can apply heparin cream locally
- take oral pain killer to ease the pain

When you'll see your doctor, after re-evaluation, a more specific treatment will be prescribed.

Wish fast recovery!
