Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Legs Despite Taking Vitamin-B For Peripheral Neuropathy?
I have peripheral sensory neuropathy. I tried taking an herbal supplement which had milk thistle in it. I ended up being allergic to it with swelling in lower legs and feet. I am now taking a b complex vitamin daily to alleviate the symptoms. My nutrition intake is not the best. I no longer drink alcohol. I feel since taking the b complex my legs are starting to swell again. Is it possible I am allergic to b vitamins? If so, how can I determine which one and how to supplement with food instead of vitamins
* There are number of reasons for swollen legs as
- cardiac conditions as heart-pumping defect
- atherosclerosis and diabetes
- kidney malfunctioning
- lymphatic obstruction of lower limbs
- thyroid level alterations
- varicose veins
- others
- prolong bed rest or leg dependency
Kindly consult your family physician for a detailed medical examination of all the systems and get further guidelines of therapy after proper diagnosis to cure at earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
