Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Legs While Using Blood Thinners For Poor Blood Circulation?
mother in law has very bad blood circulation issue in right leg as blood thinner meds were making leg swell dr suggested moving more but she is so hesitant due to the immediate pains. (we know due to lack of circulation) question is...would a heat pad or compress be better to get the circulation going while she sits at night?
Swelling legs while on blood thinners can be part of: - Low response to the medications - Additional compromise with lymphatic return - Cardiac or lung related problems - Low protein levels in the body with leg edema from pressure changes of intravascular protein components
However, a comprehensive evaluation approach with history, physical examination, reports of lab would reveal better guidelines policy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
