What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck Along With Fever And Body Aches?

Three weeks ago, I was very sick with fever, body aches, and sore throat with white stuff for three days. That cleared up but my lymph nodes remained swollen for two weeks at which point I went to dr and they took a fast response strep test that came back negative. They still gave me antibiotics. The swelling has gone down a little but an extreme pain remains down the left side on my neck. Running from jawline down voicebox and ending above collar bone. It hurts and is tender to touch. A sneeze or head movement feels the worst ever. The dr didn t say anything about this pain. All vitals were healthy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
The pain is caused by the residual infection that you have, the pain should go down once you are done with the antibiotic course, however, you will still stay weak for a while with body aches since a bacterial infection takes longer to recover. Take Tylenol for the pain every 6 hours, a high protein diet and complete your antibiotic course. Hopefully you should feel better.
Take care!
