What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Breast, Neck And Back?
I had a mammogram for a lump that turned out to be fibrocystic tissue. I have since had a lot of lymph nodes swelling. I have one that has been swelling off and on for a few months on the opposite side. They re everywhere from back of neck, clavicle, breast and underarm, groin, as well as a few spots like around the kidney in my back. Can it be pms or a virus?
Thank you for your question. Enlarged lymph nodes is an indication of a disease in the body. Main causes 1. Infection - reactive lymphadenitis due to viral infection. bacterial like tuberculosis 2. Blood cancer - acute or chronic Leukamia 3. Cancer of lymph nodes - lymphoma Hodgikns Or Non Hodgikins Lymphoma. 4. Other non specific causes such as chronic dermatitis , autoimmune diseases Investigations 1. Full haemogramm, pheripheral blood film to rule out leukaemia, bacterial infectiins or viral. 2. Lymph node fine needle aspirate or biopsy 3. Bone marrow aspiration. Rule out leukaemia or lymphoma. 4.Ct Scan for organ enlargement. mainly spleen and liver. Treatment Will depend on the out come. Consult haematologist for further management
