What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck After Tooth Extraction?
Hello. I had my wisdom teeth extracted a year and a half ago. I have been to dentists, periodontists, endodontists, no one knows what's wrong. I get a swollen lymph node in my neck under my ear on my left side when I eat. It comes and goes is better with salt rinse. I have pain in my left forearm and part of my uper arm that is pretty comstant. Is there any chance that this is related? Should I be concered?
As per your complain swelling under the ear does not seems to be a lymph nodes.. As the swelling occurs immediately while eating and then gradually resolves then it can be most probably due to swelling in the salivary gland that occurs due to obstruction in the duct of the salivary gland due to foreign body or stone formation in the duct of the gland..
Pain in upper arm and forearm is not related to it and for this consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated..
For swelling under ear consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and he can do an x ray and If it is suspected to be due to stone formation you can be advised to suck tart candies as at times the stones can flush out with heavy saliva flow.. Superficial stones can however be pushed manually towards the duct orifice and can be removed..
Deeper stones needs surgical removal and for this it will be better till you deliver the baby..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
