What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck?

I had my thyroid killed with radioactive iodine 3 years ago. It took 2 1/2 years to get my levels properly adjusted. Then my tsh level dropped in May. Doctor cut me back on meds but in the meantime, I have a swollen neck, swollen lymph nodes, feels like a lump in front side of throat, am hoarse off and on and a very dry mouth and throat. Also have a canker sore on my gum line for first time in my life. Been to dentist for canker sore and am rinsing with baking and water and using oragel. Is this all from low tsh levels? thankyou

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A canker sore can be due to low TSH levels... and when secondarily infected it can cause enlargement of a lymph node in neck.

Getting thyroid supplements for bringing TSH down & antibiotics to treat the infection would be the way to cure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
